Celebrate Eight

For a kid, or anyone really, having a birthday just weeks after moving to a new place can be a bit depressing. Should you have a party? If you do, who will you invite? Who knows you well enough to truly celebrate that you were born? What will you do in this new place? Well, we’ve lived in Kijabe for less than 3 weeks now and I can honestly say, this was one of Natalie’s best birthdays ever. The Lord has already blessed Natalie and our entire family with some incredible friendships that have really taken root since arriving at Kijabe. Our new friends were happy to celebrate our daughter’s life with us. Natalie got to open her gifts from grandparents via FaceTime and had phone calls from around the world singing her happy birthday. It was a special day for our amazing girl. We are blessed indeed!

With the help of the Vitamix blender, a little forethought on bringing some candy toppings from home and the generosity of the Fuzzy Peach frozen yogurt shop in Wilmington, we were able to add a little froyo element to the party. It was a hit!

Madeline has been in Kenya for almost a year. We followed her family’s journey on instagram long before we arrived. We had a feeling she and her sister Annabelle would be great friends to Natalie. We were right!

The majority of this crew left from Peachtree City, GA in early July together and has been together ever since.
